Thanksgiving Camps Recap: 300+ Kids, 6 Cities, and a Whole Lot of Smiles
This Thanksgiving break, Pro Touch Soccer turned six local cities into one big celebration of the beautiful game. Over 300 kids joined our Thanksgiving Camps across Orange, San Clemente, Whittier, Laguna Niguel, Tustin, and Huntington Beach.
Our mission was simple: create a camp where every player has fun, learns, and walks away more confident than when they arrived. From first-time players to experienced campers, the fields were full of energy, laughter, and a lot of goals.
A Thanksgiving Week Full of Soccer & Smiles
Parents often tell us they want two things from a soccer camp: for their child to enjoy the experience and to develop their skills. Thanksgiving week gave us the perfect chance to deliver both.
Each day combined technical training, decision-making games, and fun competitions. Players improved their first touch, passing, shooting, and movement off the ball, all while having a great time with friends and teammates.
Six Cities, One Pro Touch Family
Even though we were spread out across six different regions, every camp location shared the same Pro Touch values: positivity, effort, and respect.
- Orange & Tustin – High-tempo sessions with lots of small-sided games and technical reps.
- San Clemente & Laguna Niguel – Coastal energy, quality fields, and many returning campers bringing friends and siblings.
- Whittier & Huntington Beach – Competitive groups, loud encouragement, and big improvements in teamwork and communication.
One of the best things we saw all week was how quickly kids connected with each other. Players who were quiet and shy on Day 1 were cheering for teammates and leading chants by the final day. That sense of family is a big part of what we aim to build at every Pro Touch camp.
Fun, Engaging, Developmental Drills
Our coaching team designed every session to keep players active, involved, and learning through play. We avoid long lines and standing around; instead, kids are constantly touching the ball and making decisions.
Some of the core training elements included:
- Ball mastery stations – Dribbling, turns, and footwork to build comfort and confidence on the ball.
- Passing and combination drills – Simple, high-repetition exercises that teach players how to connect with teammates.
- Finishing challenges – Shooting games that help campers stay calm and composed in front of goal.
- Mini tournaments – Small-sided games where players could apply what they learned under light pressure.
The result: a week where kids learned a lot without feeling like they were in a classroom. They were playing, laughing, competing—and improving.
Rewards, Points, and Trophies That Are Earned
One of the most exciting parts of camp for the players is our points and awards system. Throughout the week, campers earned points not only for scoring goals, but also for the things that truly matter in the long run:
- Great attitude and discipline
- Listening and respecting coaches and teammates
- Consistent hustle and effort in every drill
- Being a positive and supportive teammate
- Noticeable improvement from Day 1 to the final day
At the end of camp, we gave trophies to a select group of players—for example, those with the best discipline, the most improvement, the most points collected, or the best overall play. We intentionally do not give a trophy to every single camper.
This is an important part of our philosophy. We want kids to learn that in life, you don’t always receive a reward just for participating. You have to work hard, give your best, and earn it. And even when you give everything you have, you still might not be the one who receives the trophy that time. The key is to stay motivated, keep training, and come back stronger.
We always make sure that while only a few players take home trophies, every child feels seen, encouraged, and valued through high-fives, shout-outs, and positive feedback.
World Cup Finals Day – Finishing Camp on a High
To close out the week, we turned our camps into a World Cup-style tournament. Each team represented a different country, adding extra excitement and pride to every match.
Players got to experience:
- Group stage games – Lots of short matches with plenty of touches on the ball.
- Knockout rounds – High-energy games where players learned to handle pressure.
- Finals and placement matches – Every team had something to play for until the end.
Some teams lifted the “World Cup,” while others fell just short—but all players practiced good sportsmanship, shook hands, and learned how to handle both winning and losing.
What Parents Told Us
Throughout the week, we heard a lot of positive feedback from families. A few common themes were:
- “My child couldn’t wait to come back each morning.”
- “He’s been practicing his new moves at home.”
- “She looks more confident on the field and with new friends.”
For us, that’s the ultimate sign of a successful camp: kids going home tired, happy, and proud.
